Guest ned_solanki Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Hi All, Newbie, so please be gentle. I have a problem with the bulbs in the speedo of my galaxy. Just got a quote from www.fordpartsuk.com and they have quoted me the following: The instrument cluster that houses the speedo lists 2 types of bulb.It is not clear which bulb(s) are applicable specifically for the speedo. The Heater control panel only lists one bulb. Here is the information requested:Galaxy Bulb- Instrument ClusterPart Number 4041970(QTY4)Retail Price: .66p eachYou Pay: .60p eachGalaxy Bulb- Instrument ClusterPart Number 7096694(QTY2)Retail Price: Quote
Guest fredt Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 For all your bulbs try your local motorist centre, halfords stock all the bulbs you need as do your local dealers, there are two bulbs in the instrument cluster the small panel bulbs that come with a cap that you twist into place to make the contacts line up and a couple of capless type that do the same thing but due to their size are replaceable in the mountings the heater control bulb at Quote

Guest ned_solanki Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Thanks FREDT, you are right and thanks for the advise. I have one more question today and it might sound dumb, but i thought i would ask: When the front lamps are lefton, is there a warning buzzer that is supposed to go off. I know most cars have this, but i hear nothing apart for the neighboro's coming round saying I have left the lights on again. Sorry to ask a dumb question, but my wife's Golf doesnt make a noise either. Quote
Guest fredt Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Yes, you should have a lights on buzzer, it should sound when the lights are on and the ignition is off when the doors are opened Quote
Guest ned_solanki Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Any ideas where to find the little beast and how to fix it, please. Pretty please with a cherry on top. Quote
Guest fredt Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Unfortunately no I haven't had the pleasure of looking for it YET! Quote
Guest ned_solanki Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 Ok Fredt, thanks for all your efforts Quote
Guest fredt Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 It appears the buzzer is up under the dash in the region of the fuse panel, there are two fuses in the system F7 and F8 both 5 Amp, the buzzer is labelled as H9 buzzer on the wiring diagrams, the buzzer is controlled by the ignition switch so it could be a sticking contact on the switch? try a blast of WD40 or similar down the barrel to see if it helps? or get an aftermarket door buzzer kit :) or a post it not stuck to the centre of the steering wheel SWITCH OFF THE LIGHTS! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 ..or just walk round the car each time you park it to check that all the doors are locked and that you've switched the lights off.... Quote
